Give to YWAM England's Pakistan Quake appeal
The walls shook, the children screamed, we ran for our lives, gathering the orphans from every corner of the building. Outside everyone was terrified, the noise of shaking mountains and scared people was unforgettable Christian leaders in northern Pakistan.
YWAM has been working from the UK into Pakistan for ten years, investing in the lives of local leaders. One of these couples runs a residential child support centre. They miraculously survived the quake. The building now shelters as many terrified children as can squeeze within its walls to escape the rain and freezing cold.
In spite of the devastation, amazingly we are still able to talk to them by phone. As a result, our team in Pakistan can plan their response in minutest detail. The local workers there are already buying blankets, cooking equipment, and medicines and transporting them in fully-loaded vehicles north into the affected areas of north of Islamabad, namely, Mansehra, Abbotabad, and Balakot.
We need funds for them to buy more emergency goods now. Winter is coming, snow is already on the ground. We must act quickly.
Just £12 will buy a blanket and save a life.
£20 purchases a blanket, heavy duty plastic sheeting and food to protect a family and their remaining belongings from the elements.
£30 provides food for one child for for one month.
However, we are in for the long haul too. Once people begin to recover, many women and children, who have lost fathers, husbands and brothers, will leave the mountains forever. They will need shelter, protection, and an opportunity to rebuild their lives.
We are in a position to help quake victims through trustworthy people on the ground who will bring a personalised, loving touch. We will be able to offer counselling, blankets, food and drink, shelter, and, above all, hope to many people left homeless and destitute by the quake. In both the short and the long term.
But to do this, we need your support. Please consider giving financially to help the hurting, desperate survivors of the quake.
